“The Time Is Now”

This is it - 2017 is going to be your year! You fell off the wagon a bit around the holidays, ate a little too much of grandma’s apple pie, and skipped the gym for social events, but that’s in the past. You have a beach vacation planned in 3 months, and you want to bring your best physique to date. You drew up a workout plan, set your macros in a deficit, stopped at your local Nutrition Corner to stock up on the essentials, and you’re ready to get started!

time is now...next week.

Today is Wednesday, and you have a lot going on this week at work. Your roommate’s birthday is Friday, so you’re going to have one last hurrah with the squad before you lay off the booze for a while. Plus, you still have that box of pizza rolls sitting in the freezer, and it would be a waste to just throw them away.

So that’s okay, you’ll start on Monday next week. Fresh start. New beginning. It alllll ends Sunday at midnight. You’re turning it around. Flipping the switch. It’s happening.

Sound familiar? We’ve all been there. That moment when you realize you need to make changes and you draw up a plan, only to find that “now is not the right time.” So you decide on this magic moment in your immediate future when the stars are going to align and you’ll be able to start your journey.

The fact of the matter is that there will never be a perfect time. If you’re a functioning member of society, there will always be challenges. Your job is always going to have meetings that come up and cause you to move your training. Your mom is always going to make the most delicious chicken pot pie that you’re going to have to turn down. Your significant other is (almost) always going to have different goals or food preferences that you’re going to have to accommodate. Temptation will ALWAYS be around, things will ALWAYS come up, and you’re ALWAYS going to have to find ways to deal with it.

Rather than delay the start, my challenge to you is to start NOW. Right this second, actually. Instead of making a 180 next week, start by focusing on today and what you can do to start moving towards your goal. If you haven’t trained yet today, then up the intensity compared to yesterday. Swap out your side of mac & cheese at dinner for steamed broccoli. Prep some extra food tonight to take with you for lunch tomorrow instead of eating out. Plan out your workouts for the next week and jot the time slots in your calendar.

So c’est la vie, Nut Corner fam! Commit to your goals and start crushing them now. And, as always, remember to use us as a resource to get you there!
